Image Coding

Embryo image file example: UAB-E25-03-2

  • UAB - identifies collection location
  • E25 - identifies New Embryo Reference
  • 03 - identifies Slide number (note 3 digit coding could be used if more than 100 slides)
  • 2 - used only if the slide needs scanning to capture sections in label region (close to slide holder).

Fetus image file example: UAB-F25-003-2

  • UAB - identifies collection location
  • F25 - identifies New Fetus Reference
  • 003 - identifies Slide number (note 3 digit coding as these contain more than 100 slides)
  • 2 - used only if the slide needs scanning to capture sections in label region (close to slide holder).
  • Sections should be scanned in the correct serial sequence
    • This will be "upside down" compared to photocopied slide images.

Also a "B" series? slide 8 - 23 and 55?

Notes

  • Slides cleaned with microfibre cloth, excess mountain removed with blade.
  • Sticker added to label zone with embryo number and slide number.
  • Naming UAB-E109-slidenumber
  • Need to reset sequence of scan/numbering - bottomtopleftright (will this be different for different embryos?)
  • Course autofocus not working correctly - need to manually set (3300-3400)
  • Slide 1 image 15,16 not sharp; slide 2 image 13 not sharp. When rescanned after fine focus on these section and wider course range OK.
