The Kyoto collection was begun by Dr. Hideo Nishimura in 1961 and has since grown to over 44,000 human specimens. The collection was then developed and curated by Prof. Kohei Shiota and is currently curated by Prof. Shigehito Yamada. This is an research active collection.
