The Kyoto collection was begun by Dr. Hideo Nishimura in 1961 and has since grown to over 44,000 human specimens. The collection was then developed and curated by Prof. Kohei Shiota, and is currently curated by Prof. Shigehito Yamada. This is an research active collection and Prof. Shigehito Yamada is deputy convenor of the DEC.

History of the Center, April 1975 first established as a University School facility.

  • Hideo Nishimura, Professor (March 50 April - 1976)
  • Kazumasa Hoshino Professor (March 1977 September to 1990)
  • Kohei Shiota, Professor (September 1990 April to 2008)
  • April 1998 - Graduate School of Medicine
  • April 2003 - transfer to the D Building fourth floor then E Building first floor
  • July 2007 - transfer into a comprehensive anatomy Center third floor from Building D 4th floor
  • Takeshi Kaneko, Professor (October 2008 - January 2011, 30 days)
  • Keiji Tamaki, Professor (January 31, 2011 - 2013 January 30, 2009)
  • Masatoshi Hagiwara, Professor (2013 January 31, 2008 ~)
