Introduction

Newcastle University

The MRC-Wellcome Trust Human Developmental Biology Resource (HDBR) is organised from two sites: the Biosciences Institute, Newcastle, and the Institute of Child Health, London. The HDBR is an ongoing collection of human embryonic and fetal material ranging from 3 to 20 weeks of development.

The HDBR Atlas is a unique resource which aims to facilitate the understanding of human development. 3D models provide a framework in which anatomical structures are defined and gene expression data is mapped. The Atlas hosts gene expression data, reconstructions of developing organ systems, interactive 3D embryo models and annotated high resolution histology sections in the eHistology viewer.
